“Chlorophyll. We’ve all heard the word but may not know exactly what it is. Some of us may picture the scene from the popular 90s movie, Billy Madison, “Chlorophyll? More like BORE-ophyll!”

But what exactly is chlorophyll and why should you care? For those setting New Year’s resolutions, Chlorophyll Water could be incorporated into those goals. Especially if they include weight loss.

Chlorophyll is the pigment that makes plants green and plays an essential role in photosynthesis in plants, allowing the plants to absorb energy from the sun. Now, an excess in the energy humans consume (in the form of calories) will lead to increased body weight. However, Chlorophyll Water may be able to help combat this weight gain. One study found that women who drank a smoothie containing chlorophyll lost more weight than the women who did not drink the chlorophyll-containing smoothie. In fact, these women lost 6.3% of their body weight in just 3 months!

Chlorophyll may provide more benefit to our bodies than just losing weight. In the previously mentioned study, the women who drank the chlorophyll smoothie also showed reductions in total and LDL blood cholesterol, and a decreased urge for sweet and fatty foods. Additionally, researchers have suggested that high chlorophyll-containing foods and drinks (like Chlorophyll Water) might be helpful in treating hemoglobin deficiency disorders by improving the quality of red blood cells. The reason for this is that the chemical structure of chlorophyll is almost identical to hemoglobin, which is a protein that that carries oxygen in the body via red blood cells.

Chlorophyll Water is also high in antioxidants and vitamins that are necessary for the body. It’s chlorophyll that gives green plants their phytochemical and antioxidant properties that can fight free radicals. Having a high intake of antioxidants is important for everyone but especially athletes because the high amount of exercise increases the amount of free radicals produced by the cells which makes it more difficult for the athlete’s cells to recover.

Whether you’re an athlete looking to perform your best or someone who wants to live a healthier lifestyle, Chlorophyll Water may be able to help you achieve your New Year’s resolutions!”
